abox5.     HOBBIES!    abox5.

My main hobby now, is you guessed it, COMPUTERS. I also enjoy model boat building, fishing, working with wood and collecting antiques. At the present my ongoing project is learning how to build my web pages.

For anyone just beginning to learn how to create their web pages, I recommend buying the small booklet called "GET ON-LINE" written by Chris Lane and costs around £4 in most good bookshops. Another great book called "Create Your First Web Page in a Weekend" by Stephen E Callihan is a 'do-it-yourself-in-a-weekend' book that will keep you stuck to your computer all weekend till you are able to produce a basic website. It costs around £23.00.

Creating HTML Pages

HTML is the language used to create your web pages. If you are a beginner you will probably find the prospect of learning a whole computer language a little frightening. Do not despair, html is fairly simple to learn and there are whole host of software packages to help you. There are even add-ons for Microsoft Word, which will turn your Word documents into HTML. Whatever you do to this page and however many other pages you create, it is important that you have a file named "index.html". This file will be your sites index file and will be the file that is automatically generated when your web site is accessed. For this reason you should make the first page you want people to see on your web site "index.html".

I have also included links to some of the best tutorials for HTML on the web.

After you have learned the basics try out "FrontPage Express" or some other program editor which can be fun to play around with!
